Exhibition of Lovers
Raquel André works by accumulation. She has been meeting strangers for seven years in unknown apartments in various cities around the world. With them, she shared an intimacy that she registered in photography. In her Collection of Lovers, Raquel has collected 287 lovers. In this Exhibition of Lovers, Raquel André takes a guided sound tour of a house-maze lined with around 1000 of the more than 7000 images in her archive.
In collaboration with the set designer and architect José Capela, this performative installation aims to reactivate the vertigo in the face of what we do not know, in a relationship with the artist's memory. What is the gateway? Raquel André invites each spectator to lose themself in an infinite space of intimacy, where we don't know where it begins or ends.
